Lamar Drops Battle of the Border Rivalry Match

| By:
Box Score LAKE CHARLES, La.  – It was a tough afternoon for the Lamar University women's tennis team. In match that was rescheduled twice due to weather, the Cardinals dropped a 7-0 decision to Battle of the Border rival McNeese, 7-0.

The Cardinals (3-15/0-5 SLC) struggled to find their rhythm after dropping the doubles point. McNeese took the one-point lead and quickly made it a three-point advantage with wins on courts 6 and 4 respectively, but Lamar mounted a challenge on courts 3 and 5.

Junior Megan Do trailed McNeese's Ana Hollweg, 6-5, heading into the 12th game of the opening set, while sophomore Martina Alcaino forced the Cowgirls Elena Morales into a first-set tiebreaker. Unfortunately, McNeese held on to win both matches and never looked back recording the shutout win.

The Cardinals will look to get back in the win column Saturday, April 5th when they travel to Edinburg, Texas, to take on UT Rio Grande Valley. The match against the Vaqueros is slated for 1 p.m.
