Battle of the Border Match Rescheduled for Sunday

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After being rescheduled for a second time, the Lamar University women's tennis team is now set to take the court against Battle of the Border rival McNeese. The match which was originally slated to take place on Mar. 8 is now set for a 1 p.m. start Sunday.

It has been a tough 2025 season for the Red and White who have dropped two of their past three and enter Sunday's showdown looking for their first win of the season. The Cardinals (3-14) are 0-4 in conference play but still have time to make up ground in the standings with five league matches remaining on the schedule.

LU is one of two traditional Southland teams still looking for its first win. If the Cardinals can win Sunday they would jump into a three-way tie for seventh in the standings.

McNeese is in the midst of a strong run during the 2025 season. Having won three of their last four, the Cowgirls are now 15-4 (.789) on the season and fifth in the standings with a 2-2 in Southland Conference record.

Following the match, the Cardinals will stay on the road to take on UT Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg (April 5).
