HOUSTON, Texas -
Xiomara Rodriguez and
Alex Williams III posted the best finishes for the Cardinals on the final day of the Victor Lopez Invitational Saturday hosted by Rice. The Cardinals totaled five medals (two second-place finishes and three thirds) and nine top five results for the day.
Williams III was one of two Cardinals to put up two top-five finishes. He earned second in the discus (47.60m-156'02"), which edged out teammate
Anthony Oliver (47.30m-155'02") by a foot.
Ke'Asia Hall took third place in the long jump with a personal best of 5.73 meters (18'9.75"), but came in fourth in the triple jump at 11.50m (37'8.75").
Rodriguez made her debut in the discus and recorded a school record mark of 48.03m (157'7"), which earned her second place. In the men's long jump,
Kaleb Robinson (7.14m-23'5.25") claimed third over teammate
Patrick Wolf, who finished fourth at 7.12m (23'4.50"). Madison Langlinais came within four feet of medaling in the javelin throw after launching hers 39.25m (128'09").
The Cardinals will return to Houston for the two-day Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational beginning Friday, April 4th.
