Big Red Set for Five Games at Chattanooga Frost Classic

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University (6-3) is set to fly out to Chattanooga, Tenn., for its first road trip of the year. The Cardinals will compete in five games at the Chattanooga Frost Classic, where they take on Indiana State (2/21-12:30 p.m.), Southeast Missouri State (2/21-3:00 p.m.), UTC (2/22, 12:30 p.m.), IU-Indianapolis (2/22-3:00 p.m.), and Illinois State (2/23, 12:00 p.m.).
 
I-10 Border Classic
The Cardinals won three of their five games at the I-10 Border Classic in Beaumont. LU defeated Missouri State twice by 3-2 scores and run-ruled Nicholls, 12-1 in a non-conference affair. Big Red lost two Saturday games to Tulsa, 6-2, and No. 6 Tennessee, 13-0.
 
Cardinal Spotlight - Madison Guidry
Guidry earned her first victory in the circle against Missouri State Sunday. Despite allowing two runs in the first inning, the left-hander from La Porte shut out the Bears for the final six innings. In her complete game win, she allowed four hits while striking out a career-high five batters.
 
Cardinal Spotlight - Sicily Windham
Windham posted three hits in LU's 12-1 win over Nicholls. Then, she recorded a walk-off single to defeat the Bears Friday by the final of 3-2. Through six games, Windham is batting .500 (8-of-16) with two RBIs.

About the Sycamores
The Sycamores are 1-8 after dropping all four games in Birmingham, Ala. Sophie Esposito (.250 BA) and Hannah Welch (.222 BA) both have six hits to lead the team while the latter also recorded a team-high four RBIs. Tatum Gerwitz posted a .700 batting average (7-of-10) to lead SEMO. Brooklyn Saysoff (.429 BA, six hits) and Sydney Melton (.364 BA, four hits, three 2Bs) each drove in four runs. Elliott Stinson allowed three hits and posted a 0.00 ERA in 4.2 innings in the circle while Delaney Kell (1.75 ERA) conceded a run in two appearances.

The Mocs (3-7) snapped a seven-game skid with a 5-3 win over Lindenwood. Chattanooga possesses two, run-producing machines in Olivia Lipari (.429 BA) and Acelynn Sellers (.387), who each have driven in 11 RBIs on 12 hits. Hitting .412 on the season, Kailey Snell tops the team hit lead with 14. The ace of the pitching staff is Peja Goold, who, in 21 innings, holds a 3.33 ERA with a team-high 25 strikeouts.
