Cardinals Softball Signing Three Newcomers

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University softball announced the additions of three signees during the November signing period. The Cardinals are bringing in utility hitter Bri Cesario (Farmersville, Texas), infielder Paige LaFrenz (League City, Texas), and outfielder Keira Weekly (Queen Creek, Arizona) announced head coach Amy Hooks Wednesday.

"This 2026 class is as balanced as it is competitive," said Coach Hooks. "With speed, power, and consistency, they elevate every part of our game while strengthening our defense. Each of them comes from a family rooted in athletics and hard work, and that foundation shows in how they compete. This class will be special, and we can't wait to coach them."

Bri Cesario - UTL- Farmersville, Texas (Homeschool)

A homeschooled athlete, Cesario has lettered in both softball and track and field. This past season, she was a member of the Oklahoma Athletics 18U National Madden/Davis club team in the Alliance TFL. She ranked first overall nationally in on-base percentage (.592) and placed in the top 10 in the league with a .473 batting average. Cesario plans to major in construction management.

"Bri brings a game-changing combination of athleticism, softball IQ, and speed," said Coach Hooks. "Her elite work ethic and competitive drive make her a force in our lineup, and we are excited to welcome her into our family."

Paige LaFrenz - IF - League City, Texas (Clear Falls HS)

LaFrenz (League City, Texas) looks to help bolster LU's lineup with her power-hitting ability. Over the last two seasons, she posted batting averages of .351 and .391, respectively, and hit 12 homers while earning two team offensive MVPs. She also garnered first team and academic All-24-6A district honors.  She will be majoring in biology on campus.

"Paige's presence in the box is undeniable," said Coach Hooks. "She is a true power threat who will produce big numbers and command attention from opposing pitchers. With her athletic bloodline and commitment to the grind, she is a perfect fit for our family."

Keira Weekly- OF - Queen Creek, Ariz (Queen Creek HS)

Weekly, an Arizonan from Queen Creek, hopes to add to the Cardinals' outfield depth. She led the Bulldogs to state runner-up finishes in each of the last two seasons. In 2024, she earned honorable mention all-conference and first-team all-academic awards. Her father, Chris Weekly, spent five seasons in the minors for both the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs organizations, while her brother Dylan currently plays college ball at New Mexico State. Weekly intends to major in biology while at LU.

"Keira arrives with experience against top West Coast competition and a proven ability to excel," said Coach Hooks. "Her consistency in the outfield and at the plate, paired with her desire to win, makes her a tremendous addition to our program."
