BEAUMONT, Texas — This is the final competition of the fall portion of the schedule for the Lamar University men's golf team before the spring season begins in February.
The Cardinals compete in the two-day Everett Buick GMC Classic at Chenal Country Club Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 13-14 in Little Rock, Ark.
LAST TIME OUT
LU recorded its first top five regular season finish since Feb. 2024 after it placed fourth at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston back on Sept. 30.
The Cardinals tallied 41 birdies, four eagles and 173 pars during the tournament.
David Schneider Jerez finished inside the top 15, tying for 13th place with a three-round total of 214. He closed out the final round with a score of 69.
Matthew Bramford placed within the top 25, tying for 23rd.
LEADING THE WAY
Schneider leads the team with a stroke average of 70.6 while he has recorded seven rounds of par or better.
He posted a top 10 finish at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic after finishing tied for sixth. In addition, he also recorded the lowest round score of the season (67).
Nathan Woodham is second on the team with a stroke average of 71.6 as he has tallied six rounds of par or better.
LU has had five players record three or more rounds of par or better.
EVERETT BUICK GMC CLASSIC
This is the eighth straight year that the Cardinals are competing at a University of Arkansas at Little Rock tournament.
LU's best result came in 2021 with a second-place finish, its first top 10 finish in Little Rock since 2018.
Last fall the Cardinals finished 16th overall.
Chenal Country Club's features two 18-hole courses.
The Founders Course is a par 72 that measures at 7,115 yards while the Bear Den Course boasts a length of 7,326 yards.
Furman, Southern Miss, Troy, Lipscomb. North Texas, James Madison, UALR, Louisiana Lafayette, Middle Tennessee, Coastal Carolina, Louisiana Monroe, Austin Peay, UAB, Central Arkansas and Abilene Christian make up 15 of the 16 teams in competition.
