STILLWATER, Okla. - The Lamar University women's cross country team had a strong third-place finish at the Oklahoma State University Cowboy Jamboree 6K in its second meet of the season. Led by
Nia Clatworthy, the Cardinals became the only unranked team to record a podium finish as they tallied 76 points. Big Red only trailed 21st-ranked New Mexico (34) and 16th-ranked OSU (40).
Nia Clatworthy highlighted the women with a second-place run of 20:33.5. She only trailed UNM's Pamela Kosgei, who broke the 20-minute mark while finishing in front of OSU's Victoria Lagat. Second to cross the line for LU was
Cara Inch who posted a 12th-place finish at 21:15.3.
Inca Padfield finished 27th (22:00.6) while
Emma Powell (34th; 22:17.4) and
Annabel Hobday (38th; 22:25.6) each placed in the top 40.
Ashton Rainey rounded out the top 50 at 22:51.9 and
Mykayla Mims (23:15) and
Anna Eischen (23:16) crossed the line a second apart in 65th and 66th respectively. The last three of
Claire Bibb (25:13.5),
Eleana Campos (25:15.1), and
Natalee Bergeron (25:16.2) ran between 123rd through the 125th spots to close out the women's run.
Meanwhile, the men's team concluded its 8k meet in eighth place with 259 points. Propelling the way with a 19th-place finish was
Freddy Richardson, who recorded a time of 24:21.6 on the track.
Lloyd Sheppard-Brown broke into the top 60 in 58th at 25:32.9.
Jonathan Rivera (87th; 26:14.4),
Riley Trent (92nd; 26:21.0), and
Alexis Rodriguez (93rd; 26:21.9) each placed in the top 100 while
Adrian Hahn Vadstein (27:05) and Andres Padon (27:24.3) were 113th and 120th respectively.
Treyton Showen ended LU's time in Stillwater in 123rd at 27:33.9.
The Cardinals' next meet will be Oct. 18th at the Aggie Invitational in College Station.
