NATCHITOCHES, La. -
Ashton Rainey and
Andres Padron both received All-Southland Conference honors as Lamar University's men's and women's team competed in the SLC Championship Meet hosted by Northwestern State. The men finished fourth overall with 130 points while the women were eighth (207 points).
Stephen F. Austin swept both team titles as the men scored 20 points and had the top three finishers with Nathan Kapel (22:54.80) taking the individual race. The women totaled 36 points, finishing three ahead of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, which had the overall race winner in Elizabeth Khatevi (19:44.40).
Rainey led the Cardinal women with a seventh place finish at 20:57.63, which would garner her first-team all-conference honors.
Hannah Roberts (23:10.90) followed up with a 37th-place finish. Four spots behind was
Anna Eischen (23:15.93) while
Eleana Campos (24:19.98) and
Lauren Polk (24:27.90) finished 65th and 68th, respectively.
Claire Bibb was the last Cardinal runner to complete her race, putting in a time of 26:02.00 (76th overall).
Padron earned second-team honors after finishing the race in 14th place at 23:42.90 to lead LU.
Adrian Hahn Vadstein (21st; 24:04.40) came within three seconds of placing in the top 20.
Geovany Cisneros clocked in at 24:11.10 to take 28th, while
Jonathan Rivera (32nd; 24:23.60) and
Alexis Rodriguez (40th; 24:44.80) were in the top 40.
Ryan Servantes (24:59.70) and
Kenny Bibb ran 47th and 49th, respectively, while
Luke Parker (54th; 25:12.30),
Riley Trent (58th; 25:21.00), and
Treyton Showen (62nd; 25:28.60) rounded out the event.
The Cardinals will next compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in College Station. The meet will start on Friday, Nov. 14th.
