BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar cross country coach Matthew Lepine has 16 runners from both the men's and women's cross country teams lined up to run in the NCAA Regional Championships Friday. This event will take place at Agri Park on the University of Arkansas campus.

On Friday, Oct. 31, the Cardinals competed in the Southland Conference Championship in Natchitoches, La. The men ended up fourth overall
in the 8,000-meter race with 130 points. Andres Padron took home SLC second team recognition following his time of 23:42.90, which put him in 14th. In the women's 6K meet, LU tallied 207 points to take eighth. Ashton Rainey placed in the top 10, crossing the line in seventh at 20:57.63. She would be tabbed as a first-team all-conference member.

All six women of Claire Bibb, Eleana Campos, Anna Eischen, Lauren Polk, Rainey, and Hannah Roberts will compete in the meet. Rainey (21:24.4) took part in this meet last season, placing 78th, which helped last year's team score a seventh-place finish with 171 points.

The men will line up with 10 runners, including last year's participants Adrian Hahn Vadstein (102nd; 32:20.3), Alexis Rodriguez (120th; 32:45.0), Padron (145th; 33:25.6), and Riley Trent (164th; 34:20.6), who all contributed to a 14th-place finish and 397 points. Also taking part in this meet are Kenny Bibb, Geovany Cisneros, Luke Parker, Jonathan Rivera, Ryan Servantes, and Treyton Showen.

In four meets this season, the two teams have combined for three top-five finishes, with their best taking place at the Northwestern State Opening Meet. The men placed second with 60 points, while the women were third with 88 points.

Along with the other 10 SLC programs, the Cardinals will be one of 33 teams taking part in the meet.

The women will start things off with the 6K race at 9:00 a.m., while the men have their 10K run at 10:00 a.m.
