Jackson Competes at NCAA West Regionals

| By:
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Lamar University junior Elijah Jackson made his NCAA West Regional debut when he took part in the men's high jump event. Out of the 48 competitors, Jackson finished in a tie for 39th with a mark of 1.99 meters (6'6.4").

The Austin resident successfully cleared the 1.99m mark on his first try, but was unsuccessful in clearing the next mark at 2.04m (6'8.25") in three attempts. In spite of missing the qualifications for the national meet, Jackson's road to get to the regionals was a testament to the season he put in.

Posting seven top-10 finishes for the season, including five podium spots. Jackson won the high jump event at the Carl Kight Invitational with his mark of 2.07m (6'9.5"). Ironically, the day he won the event was the same day he had been announced as the Southland Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week for his second place finish at the 44 Farms Team Invitational (2.05m-6'8.75"). He earned fourth place at the SLC Outdoor Meet with his mark of 2.06m (6'9").

Saturday will see the return of Brianna Howard, who will look to advance in the NCAA Outdoor Championship finals of the 200 meters. It will also see Nia Clatworthy make her run for nationals in the 5000m event.
