Cards Put Win Streak on the Line, Host PVAMU

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – Riding the momentum of a nine-game win streak, the Lamar University baseball team (15-4/.789) returns to action Tuesday to host Prairie View A&M. The game against the Panthers closes out an eight-game homestand, as Lamar has been home for 11 of its last 12.

The Cardinals are fresh off a sweep of the University of the Pacific where the series was altered by the weather. Friday's series opener was pushed to later in the evening and the two teams then elected to play a doubleheader Saturday.

The Cardinals surrendered a total of two runs – one earned – in the three games, and Lamar hasn't surrendered more than three runs in its last seven games (a stretch which goes back to an 11-4 victory at Stephen F. Austin). That run also includes two shutout victories.

The Cardinals are 9-1 (.900) at home in 2024 but Tuesday will be just the second midweek home game for the Red and White this season.

The Panthers have also started strong this season with an 11-10 (.524) overall record and they bring a four-game win streak of their own to the Golden Triangle. The Panthers slugged 39 runs in their series sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. PVAMU has scored at least 10 runs in a game eight times this season, including one 20-run outing.

The series between the two schools dates back to the 1988 season and has been one that has heavily favored the Red and White. The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 46-3 (.939), a mark which includes a near perfect 37-1 all-time record in Beaumont. The Cardinals have rattled off 13-straight victories heading into Tuesday.

Tuesday's game is slated for a 6 p.m. first pitch from Vincent-Beck Stadium.
