BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will be wrapping up its five-match homestand with a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M Wednesday. The doubleheader will begin at 10 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center with the second match slated for a 2 p.m. start.
It will be the Cardinals second doubleheader in its first five matches.
The Cardinals are 2-1 (.667) after opening the season with a doubleheader sweep of Alcorn State, before dropping a decision to Idaho Sunday.
It has been a tough start to the season for Prairie View A&M. While the Panthers have already played four more matches than Lamar this season – owning an advantage in terms of experience – PVAMU comes to Beaumont looking for their first win of the season. The Panthers are 0-7 to start the season with four of their losses coming against Southland Conference opponents.
Wednesday's matches will be the first competition for Prairie View in 11 days as their previous scheduled match – at UIW – was cancelled due to the weather.
Following Wednesday, the Cardinals will be on the road for the next six contests – a stretch that will carry LU into conference play.
