BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's tennis team will take to the court at the Thompson Family Tennis Center Sunday looking to remain undefeated on the year. The Cardinals will host Idaho out of the Big Sky Conference and LU will be looking to protect its perfect 2-0 record.
The Cardinals got the season off to a strong start sweeping a doubleheader against Alcorn State taking both matches by a score of 7-0. Lamar finished the day with seven sets that ended in a shutout victory and 13 others where the Cards surrendered two, or fewer games.
The Vandals head south for four matches after kicking off the year with a 5-2 setback at Washington State. Idaho's trip to Beaumont will be one of eight to start the season on the road. Sunday's match will also be the third consecutive against a Southland Conference team as they square off against Nicholls Friday and McNeese Saturday before making their way to Beaumont.
When the two schools step on the court Sunday it will be the first time the two have met in tennis. Sunday's match is slated to begin at 10 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
