BEAUMONT, Texas - Former Lamar University goalkeeper Nicole Panis signed with CS Maritimo Feminino on Wednesday. CS Maritimo is currently a member of the Campeonato Nacional de Futebol Feminino, also known as Liga BPI, which is the highest division in the Portguese football league system. Maritimo is located in the city of Funchal on the island of Madeira and the team is currently fourth in the standings.
Panis joins the club after producing one of the greatest careers as a Lamar Cardinal. In her five seasons at LU, Panis broke several school records including wins (47), saves (351), shutouts (30), minutes (6377:26), and goals against average (0.93).Â
An all-Southland Conference member on the first and second teams, the two-time SLC Goalkeeper of the Year earned five SLC Goalkeeper of the Week honors and also received national recognition as a third team member from the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region and the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, for which she was also named player of the week. Panis has also guided LU to back-to-back SLC regular season and conference titles leading to two appearances in the NCAA tournament in 2022 and 2023.
