BEAUMONT, Texas - Back home for the next three weeks, Lamar University sets its sights on hosting Texas Southern Thursday night at the LU Soccer Complex. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.Â

The Cardinals earned their first win of 2025 with a 3-1 decision over Sam Houston in Huntsville on Sunday. LU scored two first-half goals from

Gross' goal was her first as a Cardinal, and she would add an assist in the match. A junior transfer from Northern Iowa, she tallied three goals and five assists with the Panthers.Â

For the first time in six seasons, the Cardinals will begin a stretch of having four consecutive home matches at the LU Soccer Complex. In 2019, the Cardinals hosted Oklahoma State, UL Lafayette, Southern Miss and Alabama from Aug. 22-Sep. 1.Â

The Cardinals have won all eight meetings by a combined score of 42-2. Last season, LU defeated the Tigers, 4-1.
Kaitlyn Niemeyer tallied two goals on three shots to lead the Cardinals.

ABOUT THE TIGERS
The Tigers also won their first game of the season Sunday as they shut out North American, 2-0. Savannah Muldrew and Kamara Bradley scored the goals for TSU while Alessandra Bastilles posted three saves. The Tigers have already played fellow Southland Conference school Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.Â
