BEAUMONT, Texas - Back home for the next three weeks, Lamar University sets its sights on hosting Texas Southern Thursday night at the LU Soccer Complex. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

PREVIOUSLY
The Cardinals earned their first win of 2025 with a 3-1 decision over Sam Houston in Huntsville on Sunday. LU scored two first-half goals from Riley Wilson and Cena Carlson while Marissa Gross added the third midway through the second half.

THAT WAS GROSS AND WE LIKED IT
Gross' goal was her first as a Cardinal, and she would add an assist in the match. A junior transfer from Northern Iowa, she tallied three goals and five assists with the Panthers.

HOME FOR THE NEXT 360
For the first time in six seasons, the Cardinals will begin a stretch of having four consecutive home matches at the LU Soccer Complex. In 2019, the Cardinals hosted Oklahoma State, UL Lafayette, Southern Miss and Alabama from Aug. 22-Sep. 1.

ALL-TIME VS. TEXAS SOUTHERN
The Cardinals have won all eight meetings by a combined score of 42-2. Last season, LU defeated the Tigers, 4-1. Kaitlyn Niemeyer tallied two goals on three shots to lead the Cardinals. Anneliese Switzer and Mariana Cardenas scored the other two goals.

ABOUT THE TIGERS
The Tigers also won their first game of the season Sunday as they shut out North American, 2-0. Savannah Muldrew and Kamara Bradley scored the goals for TSU while Alessandra Bastilles posted three saves.  The Tigers have already played fellow Southland Conference school Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

UP NEXT
LU hosts Rice at the LU Soccer Complex on Sept. 7. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
