BEAUMONT, Texas — Peter Dindinger has been hired as the new assistant director of media at Lamar University announced Director of Athletics Jeff O'Malley Thursday morning.
 
"I am extremely grateful to be receiving this opportunity to work at the Division I level, which has been a big goal of mine," Dindinger said. "Lamar athletics is on the rise and I'm looking forward to this new chapter."
 
Dindinger spent two years and four months as the sports information director at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.
 
During his tenure at SRSU, he was a part of the transition from Division III and the American Southwest Conference to Division II and the Lone Star Conference.
 
A 2013 grad of Sul Ross State and kinesiology major, Dindinger spent two years and seven months prior at New Mexico Military Institute as the sports information assistant where he covered both high school and junior college sports.
 
Before switching to the sports information field, he spent a total of five years as a sportswriter  between the Alamogordo Daily News in southern New Mexico and Odessa American in the Permian Basin.
 
Dindinger will work directly with volleyball, baseball along with men's and women's golf.
