BEAUMONT, Texas - Accolades keep coming for Lamar University's soccer team following last week's victories. Once again, another national award was presented as
Nicole Panis was selected as Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week and also headlines their team of the week.
In a stunning 1-0 upset win over then No. 12/17 ranked Xavier, Panis recorded 13 saves, the second highest single game total in her career. Her save count included a sequence where she saved both a penalty and the rebound to keep the game scoreless at the time. The following game saw her pick up four second half saves to preserve the 2-0 shutout win over Incarnate Word.
This season, Panis has recorded seven shutouts, including 5 straight games heading into this week's match. She also leads the Southland Conference in save percentage (.882)Â and goals against average (.452).
Panis and the Cardinals will return to action this Friday night at the LU Soccer Complex as they will host Houston Christian University at 7:00 p.m.
