KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The last two United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Players to Watch lists have included a goalkeeper (Nicole Panis) and defender (Arely Alaniz) from the Lamar University women's soccer team for the upcoming 2023 season. As the USC released their player's to watch list for midfielders today, LU has a representative in Isela Ramirez.

Ramirez was selected one of 38 women's soccer midfielders after her play last season. The junior from Pflugerville scored two goals and was tied for first one the team with six assists for 10 points last season. In one week (9/18/22-9/25/22), she scored both her goals with the first one being the tying goal against Texas A&M-Commerce to spark a comeback victory. Then, she netted the game-winning goal against Nicholls in a 4-0 shutout win. She earned first team honors from the Southland Conference for her play.

Ramirez helped LU to a 15-2-2 record, which included capturing the regular season SLC title at 10-1-1 and the conference tournament. The Cardinals advanced to the NCAA tournament.
