BEAUMONT, Texas – Nouray Metwally has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education at and play tennis for Lamar University announced women's head coach
David Wong Tuesday afternoon.
"We're extremely excited to be announcing the signing of Nouray," said LU head coach
David Wong. "She is another great addition to what has been a very strong signing class for us. She is a versatile player who brings different attributes to the court. We will have a lot of competition in practice which will only make this team stronger for their matches."
Metwally joins a 2022-23 signing class that is now five players strong and includes Marika Mueller (Nov. 11, 2022/Germany), Martina Alcaino (Dec. 21, 2022/Chile), Natalia Turczuk (Feb. 28, 2023/Poland) and Leah Kuruvilla (May 19, 2023/Sugar Land, Texas – Idaho State).
Metwally comes to the Golden Triangle currently ranked 35 nationally in Egypt but has climbed as high as 12
th in the polls. Over the course of her junior career, Metwally won numerous national U18 tournaments and reached the main draw in three W-15k tournaments.
