Cardinals Fall at Northwestern State

| By:
Box Score NATCHITOCHES, La. – Lamar University received singles wins from sophomore Noelia Lorca and freshman Megan Do but that was as close as the Cardinals would get as Northwestern State held on for a 5-2 decision Friday afternoon at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Tennis Complex.

The Cardinals (9-7/1-1 SLC) had to battle out of an early deficit dropping the doubles point, but freshman Megan Do pulled LU even at the No. 6 position. Do defeated the Demons' Mariella Minetti, 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets.

Big Red battled back to take a 2-1 lead after Lorca's straight-sets decision on court No. 2. She bested Ayu Ishibashi, 6-4, 6-4, but that is where the rally stopped as the Demons rattled off four consecutive singles wins for the overall victory.

The Cardinals return to action Tuesday, April 4, when they travel to Hammond, La. to take on Southeastern Louisiana. The match against the Lions is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
