BEAUMONT, Texas – Redshirt freshman Brian Gordon has been named to the 2023 Academic All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Thursday morning. Gordon is a second-team selection.
 
Originally from Houston, Texas, Gordon fought his way into the starting lineup during the 2022-23 campaign. He played in 29 games earning eight starts on the season and averaged 3.0 points per game and better than 2.0 rebounds per contest. He scored a season-high 10 points at then first-place Southeastern Louisiana helping the Cardinals rally from a double-digit deficit to force overtime.
 
A two-time Dean's List selection, Gordon is majoring in finance at Lamar.
 
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must keep a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) through the semester prior to the sports' championship, have completed at least one full academic year prior to the nomination and be a starter or significant reserve who has played in at least 50 percent of the games.
