Cardinals Go 3-0 at Puerto Rico Classico

| By:
Lamar University faced arguably its toughest test Wednesday in the Puerto Rico facing Bayamon who represents the National Superior Basketball League (BSN). The Cardinals defeated Bayamon, 91-58, at the Mario Morales Coliseum.

The 91 points marked the team's second-highest output of the three games and it was far more than were needed from a Cardinals' squad that only allowed Bayamon 58. Big Red limited its hosts to a 33-percent effort from the field while forcing 21 turnovers. It marks the second time in three days that LU has forced an opponent into at least 20 miscues. The Cardinals averaged 19 forced turnovers in the three games.

The Cardinals' length also caused Bayamon issues on the glass. LU outrebounded Bayamon 46-28, ending the three games +43 in the rebound battle. Among the Cardinals' 46 rebounds, 18 came on the offensive end of the floor.

Big Red knocked down 10 three pointers in Wednesday's finale. The Cardinals were led in scoring by Rob Lee, Jr. (16 points). Lee was joined in double figures by Quinton Sanders (15), Eian Lowe (11) and Spencer Ezewiro (11).

The Cardinals will take a day off from practice and competition before returning home Friday.
