Box Score COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Lamar University pushed two sets in singles to a tiebreak against the No. 49 Texas A&M Aggies, but the Aggies defended their national ranking defeating Lamar University, 7-0, Thursday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Complex in College Station, Texas.

The Aggies snagged the opening lead of the match with victories on courts 1 and 3 doubles to claim the point. The match on court two was halted when the point was awarded but that was a tough break for the Cardinals' due of Max Milic and Haruki Omori-Cowie. The duo was locked in a tie with A&M's Raphael Perot and J.C. Roddick, heading into the ninth game.

Despite the setback, Lamar came out in singles with just as much fight pushing sets on courts one and two to the brink. LU's Max Amling forced a tiebreak at No. 1 against the Aggies' Giulio Perego, and Filippo Salsini followed suit in the second set against A&M's Trey Hilderbrand – who is the nation's No. 92-ranked singles player.

Milic also got out to a strong start in singles forcing his opening set to a 12th game before A&M's Kenner Taylor was able to escape with a first-set victory.

Unfortunately, the Aggies hung on to win all three sets, and eventually the matches to claim the shutout victory.

The Cardinals will look to get back in the win column Friday when they travel to Abilene, Texas to take on Abilene Christian. The match against the Wildcats will begin at 3 p.m.
