BEAUMONT, Texas – The suddenly hot Lamar University women's tennis team will put its five-match win streak on the line Monday when they travel down I-10 to face the Houston Cougars. With the win streak the Cardinals have improved their record to 8-5 (.615) on the season, and a near perfect 6-1 (.857) at home.
The Cougars are off to a strong start this season as well with a 9-5 (.643) overall record and much like Big Red it has been a roller coaster ride for the Cougars. Unfortunately for UH fans, the team is trying to snap out of a rough patch. After a seven-match win streak, Houston has dropped two of its last three but is coming off a 4-0 shutout over Southeastern Louisiana.
Big Red heads into the Monday afternoon match looking for its first win in series history, a series which has only been played eight previous times and dates back to the 1993 season. Seven of those meetings have been played in Houston.
Monday's match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
