BEAUMONT, Texas – Jacob Diaz has been named Lamar University director of football operations announced head coach Pete Rossomando Friday morning. Diaz comes to the Golden Triangle from Adams State where he spent the previous two seasons as an assistant.
"After working with Jacob for the past month, I've been able to see how organized and efficient he is," said Rossomando. "More importantly, I've been able to see first-hand just how much he cares about our players and our staff. We're excited to have him on board as we bring Lamar football into the future."
During his time with the Grizzlies, Diaz served as wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator. He moved to Colorado from Sioux City, Iowa where he spent three seasons at Briar Cliff University as a graduate assistant coach.
Diaz joined the collegiate ranks after spending four seasons at Southwest High School in El Centro, Calif. During his time there, Diaz worked directly with the team's receivers and served as the passing game coordinator, as well as recruiting coordinator. During his time with SWHS, Diaz was key in helping develop practice plans and breaking down game film.
Diaz got his start at his alma mater, where he served as an offensive assistant working directly with the Chargers' quarterbacks and receivers. A four-year letterman for BCU, Diaz received his bachelor's degree in sports management in 2020.
