LU Hosts Southern Miss, Before Traveling to Stephen F. Austin

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's tennis team is preparing for its third match in three days when they step on the court Tuesday at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center to take on Southern Mississippi. The Cardinals (3-5) have won two of the previous three matches but are coming off a 4-0 loss against New Mexico Sunday.

Southern Miss has only played three matches so far this season, but they are 2-1 on the year recording wins over Florida A&M and Alcorn State with the lone loss coming against Northwestern State.

Tuesday match, which is slated for a noon start at Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center, will be just the fifth all-time meeting. The two teams have split the four previous meetings with the Cardinals taking a one-point victory the last time the two teams met in 2011.

The Cardinals will then travel to Nacogdoches, Texas Friday to take on former league foe, Stephen F. Austin. The Ladyjacks have gotten off to a tough start this season posting a 2-4 overall record and having dropped their last three matches. Friday's match is set for a 1 p.m. start from the Schlief Tennis Center.
