WACO, Texas – Senior Elena Rubio and Megan Do closed out a strong weekend Sunday at the HEB Invitational hosted by Baylor. The duo picked up singles wins against big-time competition, and then joined forces to pick up quality wins in doubles on both Friday and Saturday. It was no different Sunday as the Cardinal tandem tacked on one more doubles' win before heading home.
 
Rubio and Do squared off against Anastasia Simonov and Louise Wikander from Denver. It was a close match throughout but the Cardinals prevailed with a 6-4 victory. Unfortunately, that was the only win for Big Red Sunday as they went 0-3 in singles play and dropped their only other doubles match.
 
The Cardinals came close in two of their three singles matches as Nouray Metwally forced a tiebreak in the opening set against SMU's Caroline McGinley but was unable to breakthrough. Do went the distance against SMU's Millie Skelton but fell in three, 7-5, 1-6, 10-7.
 
The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they host their lone tournament of the fall season. The Joe Pyburn Memorial Tournament will kick off Saturday and will run through Sunday at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Complex.
