BEAUMONT, Texas – Fresh off their thrilling one-point victory over Sam Houston, Lamar University is back in action Saturday looking to make it two in a row when they step on the court to face North Texas. The match against the Mean Green will begin at 11 a.m. from the Waranch Tennis Complex.
North Texas is 3-1 on the season after a 7-0 victory over DePaul five days ago. UNT has recorded victories over St. John's and Miami (Ohio) with their lone setback being a 4-0 decision at No. 1 Texas.
The series history between the two schools has been one that has favored North Texas. The Mean Green own a 12-1 all-time record in the series. The Cardinals are 1-8 (.111) all-time in matches played in Denton.
LU will be looking to put an end to an 11-match slide in the series Saturday. The lone victory in the series came back during the 1998 season when the Cards recorded an 8-1 victory (back when women's tennis played under a nine-point system). The two teams met last year with UNT recording the 7-0 victory.
