BEAUMONT, Texas - Adding another meet to their schedule, Lamar University's track and field teams will make it four trips to the University of Houston's campus in the indoor season. This Friday will mark their third straight meet in Houston as they will participate in the Houston Invitational.

LU's last meet was the Robert Platt Invitational and it was there that Big Red collected two first place finishes. Freshmen Miles Jones, in his second ever collegiate meet, won the high jump (2.05m '6'8.75") while Faith Outing earned her win in the 400 meters (56.65).

Other standout performances included Yasmin Austridge in the 3000m (2:09.59), which was good for second place as well as a new PR and 18th ranking in the NCAA and Kayli Johnson, who set two PRs in the 60m hurdles prelims (8.69) and finals (8.60) that meant she holds the fastest time in the Southland Conference and second fastest time in program history.

Along with LU and UH, other colleges that will be competing are Hill College, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Jacksonville College, Louisiana, Prairie View A&M, Rice, SAGU, Sam Houston, Southern, St. Thomas (Texas), Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Texas Southern, Texas State, ULM, and UTSA. There will also be a number of club and international teams participating as well.
