FORT WORTH, Texas – Lamar University closed out the ITA Regional Championships with a tough second day of action. After the opening round, the Cardinals advanced the doubles team of
Femke Tjon-A-Joe and
Noelia Lorca to the second round of the main draw, but the singles competition didn't go Big Red's way with every competitor moving to consolation draw.
Unfortunately, it was a similar story for LU in singles play Friday. In doubles play, Tjon-A-Joe and Lorca squared off against UTSA's Lexie Weir and Adeliya Mukhutdinova. The match was close and came down to the wire but the Roadrunners managed to escape with an 8-6 victory.
The Cardinals will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 1 when they travel to North Carolina to compete in the All-American tournament.
