Big Red Adds Kassenbrock to 2023 Squad

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - As the 2022 season gets underway for the Lamar University women's soccer team, head coach Nathan Kogut has added another transfer to the team.  Adding to the team's talent and depth on defense is Annika Kassenbrock.

"I am thrilled that Annika has decided to continue her college career in red and white," said Kogut, who is off to a 2-0 start in his first season with the Cardinals. "I've been fortunate to have followed her over the last few years and know she will have a big impact on Lamar in her time here. She is a big time outside back that can get up into the attack and cause problems for opponents. Her ability to create from the outside and incredibly high work rate will be something we lean on in the next four years."

Changing bird mascots, Kassenbrock becomes a Cardinal after spending her freshman year as a Hawkeye in Iowa. The Colorado native ended her high school career at Silver Creek with 40 goals, 35 assists, and 85 points. This included 16 goals, 13 assists, and 45 points as a senior, which earned her both conference player of the year and first team all-state selection honors.

Leading the Raptors to two 4A Northern Colorado conference championships and two state-semifinal appearances, Kassenbrock was an academic all-state and honor roll selection all four years. On the club level, Kassenbrock played for Real Colorado Soccer Club from 2018-21 and Real Girls ECNL. A biology major coming in, she is one of five kids to Brad and Alicia Kassenbrock.
