Cardinals Return to Action at UTSA

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University steps away from Western Athletic Conference play Sunday to take on UTSA. Sunday's contest will mark the first match for LU (10-9) in the last week.

Winners in three of the previous four matches, the Cardinals picked up their first conference victory in their last outing – a 4-3 decision over Stephen F. Austin.

UTSA comes into the weekend match in the midst of a tough season. The Roadrunners are 3-15 (.167) on the year but appear to have righted the ship. UTSA will step on the court having won consecutive matches.

The series between the two schools dates back to the 1993 season, and is slightly in favor of the Roadrunners. LU trails the all-time series, 10-16 (.385), to the Roadrunners, which includes a 4-8 (.333) record in San Antonio. Sunday's contest will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2019 season when Big Red recorded a 4-3 victory.

Sunday's match is slated to get underway at 11 a.m. from the UTSA Tennis Center.
