Box Score EDINBURG, Texas – Lamar University closed the 2022 regular season Saturday with a heartbreaking 4-3 setback at UT Rio Grande Valley. The Cardinals (10-11/1-4 WAC) split the singles courts with UTRGV, but the Vaqueros took two of the three doubles matches to earn the point.
After falling behind by one, the Cardinals bounced back with a straight-sets decision on court No. 6 from
Emmeline Polevoi. The Cardinals took their first lead after freshman
Noelia Lorca defeated UTRGV's Sandra Putz, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3.
The two school's split the decisions on courts 4 and 5 to give Big Red a one-point advantage with two courts remaining. Unfortunately, the Vaqueros closed the day by taking three-set victories on both courts for the overall win.
