LU Steps Away from League Play to Face Panthers

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After a tough stretch opening league play, the Lamar University women's tennis team will look to get back to its winning ways as it faces Prairie View A&M in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.

The Cardinals are 7-8 (.467) on the season and have won three of the last five contests but got out to a tough start in Western Athletic Conference play last week in Huntsville, Texas. Big Red dropped two hard-fought matches by a total of three-points which also consisted of six three-setters and three tiebreakers.

Big Red will look to put that disappointment in the rearview as they face a Prairie View A&M squad that is playing its best tennis of the season. After dropping their first eight matches to open the year, the Panthers cruise into the Golden Triangle having won three straight and four of six.

The series, which dates back to 2003, is one that has been dominated by LU. The Cardinals enter the week looking to protect a perfect 18-0 all-time record against PVAMU.

The doubleheader is slated to begin at 9 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The second match is will get under way at 2 p.m.
