BEAUMONT, Texas – Jamarion Evans signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for and continue his education at Lamar University announced head coach Pete Rossomando Saturday morning. Evans, a defensive back from Center, Texas, becomes the Cardinals' sixth signing during the early period.
A speedy defensive back, Evans totaled 70 tackles and picked off seven passes during his senior season for the Roughriders. As a receiver on the offensive side of the ball, Evans hauled in 53 passes for 1,021 yards and 13 scores in 2022. A former all-state selection, Evans recorded 157 receptions for 2,426 yards and 28 scores during his career, and 149 tackles with 12 interceptions.
A two-sport standout, Evans becomes the fifth defensive signee for the Cardinals during the early signing period, and the second defensive back.
With the Cardinals current signing class at six additions – five high school signees and one junior college transfer – LU will look to add to its current haul on National Signing Day, which will be Wednesday, Feb. 1
