BEAUMONT, Texas – Continuing the process of filling out his staff for the upcoming 2021-22 season, Lamar University head men's basketball coach
Alvin Brooks has named Aaron Proctor as LU Director of Basketball Operations, becoming the third announcement in as many days.
"Proctor comes to us from Southeast Missouri State where he has done a great job," said Brooks. "He served Southeast (Missouri) in a director of operations position but could've very easily been a full-time coach. He has served as a head coach at the high school level in Houston at Heights High School, Alvin High School and North Forest."
Proctor brings 15 years of coaching experience with him to Beaumont and comes to the Golden Triangle from Southeast Missouri State where he spent the 2020-21 season. Proctor's one-year stay in Cape Girardeau came following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Missouri State-West Plains. During the final three months at MSU – West Plains Proctor also held the title of interim head coach.
Proctor took the job at West Plains after spending the 2018-19 campaign at Arkansas – Fort Smith. He joined the Lions after a one-year stint as the head coach of North Forest High School in Houston. His time at North Forest was one of three high school head coaching jobs which also included stops at Heights High School and Alvin High School.
"When I first met Proctor, he was an assistant coach at Bellaire High School," said Brooks. "He's had a successful career as a high school head coach, he's coached AAU ball in Texas and was a graduate assistant coach at Kansas State when they advanced to the NCAA Championships. He's been a great leader and has won at every level."
Proctor served on staff for two seasons at Kansas State as a graduate assistant coach. During his time with the Wildcats, KSU recorded 38 wins – including a 20-win season in 2016-17 – and advanced to the 2017 NCAA Championships where they defeated Wake Forest in their first-round game.
