WICHITA, Kansas - Culminating his successful summer league season, Lamar University's
Zach Bravo will appear in the Sunflower Collegiate League All-Star Game Saturday night at 7 pm. The Cardinal pitcher will be one of five Southland Conference student-athletes to appear in the game.
Bravo, playing for the Newton Rebels, earned a spot on the SCL East All-Stars team after leading the SCL in total strikeouts. The Albuquerque, N.M., native has 61 strikeouts in 41.2 innings of work, over 10 more strikeouts than the next SCL pitcher. Bravo has a 3.89 ERA for the Newton Rebels with 35 hits and 17 walks allowed this season. Bravo is also the league's leader in innings pitched and in total starts.
Bravo is one of nine pitchers scheduled to appear in the All-Star game for the SCL East All-Stars, and one of seven Newton Rebels picked to the team.
