LU baseball adds three new staff members to program

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas — Three new staff members have joined the Lamar University baseball program.

Former player Bryce Grizzaffi is now the new director of player development while Jack Hardgrove was named the director of program development.

Tyghe Healy will take over as the strength and conditioning coach.

Bryce Grizzaffi | Director of Player Development

Grizzaffi recently wrapped up his career with the Cardinals, making 35 starts and appearing in 48 games as a catcher and second baseman.

"I'm really excited to join the staff and see behind the scenes what brings this program together," Grizzaffi said. "I'm excited to use my knowledge and what I've learned over my years playing ball to help out anyway I can."

He had 35 hits and 18 RBIs while posting seven multi-hit games. He ended the season with a 13-game on base streak.

Grizzaffi came to Lamar University after he played in 120 games as a four-year letterwinner at Southeastern Louisiana as a catcher, shortstop, outfielder and one-time appearance as a pitcher.

He earned All-Southland Conference second team honors while also being named to the all-defensive team in 2022.

Grizzaffi threw out 64 percent of base stealers in 2021 and nearly 48 percent in 2022 to rank 10th in program history.

Jack Hardgrove | Director of Program Development

Hardgrove worked under longtime director of baseball operations, Jason Hutchins, at Texas A&M.

He helped with team logistics, player development and game preparation as well as analytics and video as an intern since 2022.

"I've heard nothing but great things about coach Davis and his staff," Hardgrove said. "I'm excited to join a winning program that's on the upward trajectory.

"It seems like we have a great roster built out for the upcoming year, and I'm excited to contribute in any way that I can and learn from an awesome group of coaches."

A native of Fort Worth, he attended All Saints Episcopal School where he earned first team all-district honors.

He then went on to play at Weatherford College as an outfielder and first baseman from 2020-2022.

Tyghe Healy | Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

Healy recently joined the staff at Lamar University in August as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

He comes to Beaumont after spending 10 months at Oral Roberts in the same capacity assisting the baseball program.

Oral Roberts competed in the NCAA regional in 2024 while it made a trip to the College World Series in 2023.

"I'm super excited to be joining a winning culture," Healy said. "I came from a winning culture, and I'm excited to bring those skills and experiences to Lamar.

"Two 40-win seasons in a row is no joke. Coach Davis is one of the best coaches out there."

Healy graduated from Merrimack College in 2024 where he served as a part-time strength and conditioning coach.

A native of East Greenwich, R.I., he played for the baseball team at Merrimack for four years as a pitcher.

Healy also spent five months as an intern at Boston College, working closely with the baseball program.
