Cardinals end Texas Classic with Victory

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas- The Cardinals closed out their campaign at the Texas Classic with a well earned victory over Maryland at the Red & Charline McCombs Field complex.
 
Lamar got off to a flying start against the Terps, tallying up 5-0 lead after the third innings. The game started with the Cardinals scoring two runs in the first innings, whilst also leaving two runners on base. The Cardinals added a further three runs in the third innings, as well as two hits. Maryland responded in a resounding way, etching four runs in the fourth innings and another run in the fifth innings.
 
Though the Cardinals stood the test of times, and scored a further two runs in the sixth to seal a well fought victory against the Terps. Hannah Carpenter and Mackenzie Futrell both recorded home runs for the Cardinals; Carpenter and Hannah Kinkade also etched two runs apiece for Lamar.
 
UP NEXT: The Cardinals will travel to Lafayette, La. to play No. 10 Louisiana on Tuesday evening. This marks the second Top 10 matchup for the Big Red in five days. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and can be seen on the Ragin Cajun Digital Network.
