Cardinals Look for Ace Performance at Home

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's tennis team will return to action Saturday when they play at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The Cardinals are set to host UT Rio Grande Valley Saturday followed by UL Monroe Sunday.

Lamar vs UT Rio Grande Valley, Feb. 1st at 1:00 P.M.:

The Cardinals will look to overturn their slender loss to UTRGV last season which saw them drop a narrow 4-3 decision on the road. UTRGV have started the season with three losses, having dropped matches to Southland Conference teams Abilene Christian, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin. The Cardinals (1-2) enter the weekend looking for their second-straight victory coming off an overwhelming performance at Dallas Baptist last time out.

Lamar vs UL Monroe, Feb. 2nd at 2:00 P.M.:

The Cardinals second home match of the weekend will be against ULM. Sunday's match up will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2010 and it will also be the Warhawks' first match of the season. Currently ULM leads the all-time series 5-2 over the Cardinals.

Last time out, Lamar vs Dallas Baptist, Jan. 26th at 12:30 P.M:

The Cardinals will look to emulate their inspired performance from last weekend which saw them romp to an impressive 6-1 decision at Dallas Baptist University. The victory moved LU to 1-2 (.333) on the season. All five of LU's singles victories came in straight sets.

"I thought we came out much stronger against DBU that in our previous match," said LU head coach David Wong. "We had to adjust our line-up due to injuries and I thought our team stepped up across the board."

Following this weekend's action, the Cardinals will return to competition Friday, Feb. 14th at the Family Thompson Tennis Center when they host Oral Roberts. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
