BEAUMONT, Texas – This Friday the Lamar University Softball team will be hosting "Back the Blue" contest, in conjunction with Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the LU Softball Complex. All Law Enforcement are invited.
The Cardinals take on Nicholls with first pitch of the game starting at 5 p.m. Pregame festivities will start around 4:30 p.m. The Cardinals will be wearing special "Back the Blue" uniforms.
All law enforcement officers and families will be admitted for FREE to Friday's game. Food will be provided for the officers in attendance of the contest.
Honorary officer and Lamar Cardinal Abigail Arias will be in attendance. On March 16, officer Arias was signed as an honorary Cardinal. Prior to becoming an honorary Cardinal, on February 7th, she was sworn in as an honorary member of the Freeport Police Department badge #758 and most recently given the honors of an honorary member of the Texas Rangers. MCT Credit Union will be handing out a commemorative "Back the Blue" t-shirts, while supplies last.
Police Cars will be parked on the outfield berm and there will be a ceremonial first pitch with the celebration.
