BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team closes out its nine-game road trip with a doubleheader in Waco against Baylor. The Cards and Bears doubleheader is set for a 4 p.m. start from Getterman Stadium.

In the Cards last game of the series against Southeastern Louisiana, junior
Shannon Klaus recorded her 39th stolen base of her career, which set the LU career record. She has 24 stolen bases this season, which is the most in a single season in school history.

Baylor enters the midweek doubleheader with Lamar coming off an 11-6 loss to Texas Tech on April 14. The Bears have lost eight straight games. Baylor's last win came on March 31st in game one of a doubleheader against Kansas.
At the plate, Baylor is led by Goose McGlaun, who leads the team with a .370 batting average. The Bears have two players hitting over .300. Nicky Dawson is second on the team hitting .361. Kassidy Krupit leads the team with four home runs and 26 RBIs on the season. She is hitting .250.
In the circle, Sidney Holman leads the team with 145.2 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .284 off her. She leads the team with 10 wins and has an ERA of 5.00. Three different Bears have a win this season. Besides Holman, Madison Lindsey has thrown 51.2 innings and Regan Green has pitched 36.1 innings. Lindsey has an ERA of 5.05 while Green has a 4.21 ERA.
As a team, the Bears are hitting .252 with 19 home runs and 32 doubles. They have an on-base percentage of .334 and are 30-for-40 in stolen bases. In the circle, Baylor has a team ERA of 6.05. Opponents are hitting .301 against the Bears with 97 extra base hits.

LAST TIME OUT: SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA (April 12-13)
In the first game of the series, the Lady Lions came out swinging. Southeastern Louisiana outhit the cards 13-5 in the first game and defeated LU, 10-2. The Lady Lions scored three runs in the third and six runs in the fifth to take control of the contest.

In the second game of the series, LU came out and took an early 4-1 lead over SLU.
Maddy Myers had a two run RBI double in the fourth extending the lead for LU. After the Lady Lions trimmed the lead down to one, 4-3,
Jade Lewis doubled home a run extending the lead back to 5-3. LU took a 6-3, lead into the seventh inning and the Lady Lions scored two in the inning. SLU had the bases loaded in the seventh inning, but LU escaped and came away with a 6-5 victory.

The Cards and Lady Lions closed out the series with pitching dominating game three. LU and SLU pitching limited teams to a combined nine hits in the contest. SLU scored the lone run of the game, 1-0, in the fifth inning. Lamar could not get anything going in the sixth or seventh and were defeated.
What's Next
Following the doubleheader against Baylor, Big Red returns to the LU Softball Complex to open a seven game homestand. LU hosts Northwestern State on April 19 and 20th. On Friday, LU and NSU will play a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
