BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team heads to Hammond, La. to face Southeastern Louisiana April 12-13. The Cards and Lady Lions square off Friday in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Saturday is a single contest starting at 12 p.m. The series will be held at North Oak Park.

The Cards and Lady Lions find themselves tied for fourth place in the SLC entering the weekend. Both teams hold a SLC record of 10-5 on the season. Entering this weekend, Lamar and Southeastern Louisiana are one game behind Sam Houston and McNeese for second place and two games behind lead leaguer Nicholls.

Southeastern Louisiana enters the series with Lamar coming off a 7-1 loss to No. 10 Louisiana Lafayette on April 10. The Lady Lions have won three of its last four games. Its lone loss came on Wednesday night.
At the plate, Southeastern Louisiana is led by Rebecca Skains, who leads the team with a .374 batting average. The Lady Lions have six players hitting over .300 on the season. Jaquelyn Ramon is second on the team hitting .368 this season. Madisen Blackford leads the team with four home runs. Skains leads the team with 37 RBIs on the season. Seven Lady Lions have hit a home run on the season.
In the circle, Alley McDonald leads the team with 92.1 innings pitched on the season. Opponents are hitting .230 off her. She leads the team with eight wins on the season and has an ERA of 1.97. McDonald's ERA of 1.92 is second best in the SLC. Four different Lady Lions have a win. Karlee Kraft and Tanner Wright are second and third on the team with ERAs of 2.12 and 2.95 on the season.
As a team, the Lady Lions are hitting .317 with 12 home runs and 57 doubles on the season. They have an on-base percentage of .402 and are 170-for-191 in stolen bases. In the circle, SLU has a team ERA of 3.07. Opponents are hitting .253 on the season against the Lady Lions with 67 extra base hits.

LAST TIME OUT: STEPHEN F. AUSTIN (April 5-7)
In the first game of the series against the Ladyjacks, LU found itself down 2-0 heading to the top of the seventh inning. With two runners on,
Kimberly Mattox came up as a pinch hitter and hit a two-run triple to right center tying the game at 2-2. In the eighth inning,
Taylor Murphy singled home one putting LU ahead 3-2.
Erin Kyle did not let the Ladyjacks get anything going and the Cardinals came away with a 3-2 win.

In the second game of the series, LU trailed 1-0 heading to the fifth inning. LU tied the game in the fifth on an RBI double by
Jade Lewis. LU took the lead on a Mattox two run single growing the led to 3-1. LU extended the lead to three, 4-1 in the sixth inning. LU won game two, 4-1 taking the series.

In the final game of the series, SFA took an early 1-0 lead over LU. In the fifth inning, LU's
Maddy Myers was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, which scored the first run of the day for Lamar.
Kelly Meeuwsen followed with an RBI single putting LU ahead, 2-1. After an hour and 45-minute delay, SFA came out and tied the game with a home run by Corona. The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Gregory singled down the right field line winning the game for SFA.
What's Next
Following the contest against the Lady Lions, LU travels to Waco, Texas to face Baylor in a doubleheader on April 16. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
