BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team concludes a five-game road trip on Wednesday, March 27 when they travel to San Marcos, Texas to face Texas State. First pitch from Bobcat Softball Stadium is set for 6 p.m.

Texas State enters the contest with Lamar winning five straight contests and are coming off a three-game sweep of Louisiana-Monroe this past weekend. The Bobcats last loss came on March 16 to South Alabama.
At the plate, Texas State is led by Christiana McDowell, who leads the team with a .409 batting average. The Bobcats have two players with 20 or more RBIs on the season led by Tara Oltmann with 25. ArieAnn Bell leads the team with six home runs. The Bobcats have two players batting over .300 on the season.

In the circle, Megan King leads the team with 81.2 innings pitched on the season. Opponents are hitting .270 off her. McLeod has a record of 8-8 on the season a 3.51ERA. She has 42 strikeouts on the season. Dalilah Barrera leads the team in strikeouts this season with 67 in 65.2 innings pitched.

LAST TIME OUT: SAM HOUSTON STATE (March 22-23)
This past weekend, the Cards dropped two-of-three at Sam Houston State. In the first game of the series, LU was defeated 5-2. The second game went in favor of Sam Houston State, 3-2, in 13 innings. Lamar closed out the series by picking up its lone win, a 5-3, victory on Saturday.

Since 2013, the 13-inning game is the longest game in LU softball history. The previous record for longest
game played was 11 innings against Houston on April 11, 2018.

The Cardinals answered back in the final game of the series as they snapped a three-game losing streak.
LU collected a season-high 13 hits in the contest. In the win,
Erin Kyle pitched 6.1 innings of six hit ball. Lamar came away with a 5-3 win.
What's Next
Following the midweek tilt at Texas State, Lamar returns to the friendly confines of the LU Softball Complex to host Central Arkansas in a three-game SLC set. LU and the Bears are set for a doubleheader on Friday March 29 starting at 4 p.m. The series concludes Saturday with one game starting at 1 p.m.
