BEAUMONT, Texas – The five-game round trip continues this weekend for the Lamar University Softball team as they head to Huntsville, Texas to take on Sam Houston State in Southland Conference action.

The Cards and Bearkats will face off in a three-game series starting on Friday, March 22. Friday, LU and SHSU will play in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. The series wraps up on Saturday, March 23 with a single game starting at 12 p.m. Â Â

The Bearkats welcome the Cardinals to the Bearkat Softball Complex and are coming off a three-game sweep of Central Arkansas last weekend. Sam Houston State has not played since Saturday, March 16.
At the plate, Sam Houston State is led by Brooke Malia, who leads the team with a .304 batting average. Malia also leads the team with 16 RBIs and has four home runs. Kyndal Kutac leads the team with five home runs on the season. As a team, the Bearkats have two players batting over .300 on the season.

Aaliyah Ruiz pitched a complete game and struck out six. She only allowed the eighth ranked Tigers to five hits. All four runs scored were unearned.

Following the three-game set at Sam Houston State, the Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday, March 27 when they travel to San Marcos, Texas to face Texas State. The single game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Bobcat Softball Stadium.
