LU Hosts A&M-Corpus Christi In SLC Action

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team returns to the LU Softball Complex to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Southland Conference action. The Cards and Islanders will play a doubleheader Friday and a single game Saturday.
 
First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Following the single contest on Saturday, the Cardinals will have a special on-field presentation for Abigail Arias. Abigail will throw out the first pitch on Saturday and also serve as the Cardinals Bat Girl for the contest.

The Islanders enter the SLC series with the Cardinals with a 4-21 overall record and a mark of 1-2 SLC play. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a midweek 7-1 loss to Texas on Wednesday night. The Islanders have dropped its last three games. Its last win came on March 8 when they beat HBU, 3-2, in the first game of the doubleheader.
 
At the plate, A&M-Corpus Christi is led by Keagan Helson, who leads the team with a .262 batting average. Kennedy Johnson lead the team with 11 RBIs on the season. She has five games with two or more RBIs. Sammi Thomas leads the team with two home runs.

Last Time Out: La. Tech
The Lamar University Softball team dropped a midweek game to Louisiana Tech on Tuesday evening. The Cards were defeated 3-0 by the Lady Techsters at La. Tech Softball Complex. The Lady Techsters limited the Cardinals to four hits in the contest.
 
Four different Cardinals picked up hits in the game. Shannon Klaus, Savana Guidry, Taylor Murphy and Taylor Davis all had one hit for the contest. LU was outhit 5-4 in the contest.
 
What's Next
Following the three-game set with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Cardinals travel to Baton Rouge, La. to face LSU on Wednesday, March 20. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
