NEW ORLEANS, La. – Chastadie Barrs and
Moe Kinard led Lamar University past the Privateers of the University of New Orleans, 79-57, on Wednesday evening. Barrs picked up her third triple-double (17 points, 12 steals, 10 rebounds) and Kinard scored 29 leading the Cards in the victory.

"Chastadie played solid for us tonight and picked up her third triple-double of the season and seventh triple-double of her career," remarked Head Coach
Robin Harmony. "Chastadie is a great player and we need her playing well for us to play well."

With the win the Cardinals have won five games in a row and improve to 10-4, 3-0 SLC on the season. The Privateers fall to 4-8, 0-3 SLC on the season.

Barrs led the Cards in steals (12) and rebounds (10) but also led the Cardinals with nine assists. Kinard led the Cards with 29 points on 12-of-24 shooting. LU shot 44.1 percent from the floor in the contest and forced the Privateers into 28 turnovers. Lamar had 20 steals in the game, adding to its NCAA lead.

"Going on the road in any conference is difficult," remarked coach Harmony. "We did not execute as well as we would have liked but we came away with a hard-fought road victory and I hope we learned from this contest."

The Cardinals came out and scored seven of the first nine points and with 6:29 left in the quarter,
Miya Crump hit a jumper putting the Cards ahead, 7-2. New Orleans came back and cut the Cardinals lead down to one, 7-6 before LU answered.

The Cardinals followed by going on a 13-0 run that was capped when Barrs found
Jadyn Pimentel for a layup, putting the Cardinals ahead 20-6. The Privateers scored the final three points of the quarter and LU led 20-9 after one quarter of play.

The lead grew to 26-9 after Barrs found Kinard for a jumper with 8:33 on the clock in the second quarter. LU's lead slowly began to shrink and a layup by Rehema Franklin cut the Cardinals lead down to 11, 28-17.

Lamar continued to pressure the Privateers and stretched the lead back to 15 points, 36-21, after an
Ashlan Miles layup. New Orleans answered back cutting the lead down to eight, 36-28, with 1:39 left in the first half. Kinard put the Cardinals ahead by 13 after hitting her second three of the half. LU took a 41-29 lead into halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Cards struggled getting the offense going as they shot 35 percent in the quarter. Early in the quarter, LU stretched its lead to 14, 47-33, after a pair of free throws by
Kyla Green. Over the next four minutes, New Orleans outscored the Cards by five points, trimming the lead to nine, 50-41. For the final two minutes of the third quarter, LU held the Privateers to three points and stretched its lead back to double-figures.

In the first minute and a half of the fourth quarter, Lamar extended its lead to 18 points, 62-44, after Crump found
Rikiah Cowart for a layup. The Cards did not let the Privateers back into the game and grew the lead to 21, 72-51, after a Crump layup. LU grew its lead to as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter and came away with a 79-57 victory for its fifth win in a row.

The Cards return to action on Saturday, Jan. 12 when they host the University of Central Arkansas. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Montagne Center. The Cards will be looking for its 36th straight win at home.Â
