Cardinal Distance Competes at Bryan Clay

AZUSA, Calif. - Four members of Lamar University's track and field team competed Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, one of the final tune-up races before the Southland Conference Outdoor Championship that takes place next week.

James Stockings, Matthew Arnold, and Jamie Crowe each repped Cardinal red in the men's 5000-meter race, and Katy Whiteoak also competed for LU in the women's 5000-meter. Crowe ran a 14:06.64, the second-fastest mark in the SLC so far this season, Arnold ran the fourth-best time in the conference at 14:30.92, and Stocking came within just a few hundreths of a second of his personal best.

Whiteoak raced a 17:20.26, the sixth-best time in the league and the best time in a women's 5000-meter race by a freshman this season.

Still on the docket for Lamar is the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Invite in Houston and the Long Beach Invite in Long Beach, Calif, both on Saturday.
