GULF SHORES, Ala. – Steady rains forced the cancellation of the Lamar University softball team's final two games at the Sand Dollar Classic. The Cardinals, who opened the tournament with a 10-9 win in nine innings over Virginia Tech before falling to nationally ranked Ole Miss and Alabama, finished with a 1-2 record at the event.
 
LU was scheduled to play Georgia Tech and Lipscomb on Saturday.
 
The Cardinals return to action next weekend at the UTSA Tournament before opening the home season with a doubleheader against fourth-ranked Washington at 2 p.m. Feb. 19.
