DENVER, Colo. – A day after hitting a school record 20 three-pointers, the Lamar University women's basketball team struggled shooting from behind the arc in an 87-62 loss to the University of Ohio.

The Cards were 3-for-23 on three pointers against the Bobcats, a night after going 20-for-43. LU shot 31.5 percent from the floor in the game, while Ohio shot 48.1 percent.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 4-3 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 5-0.

Leading the Way for the Cardinals was
Chastadie Barrs, who led the team with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Miya Crump followed with 18 points.

The Bobcats came out strong against the Cardinals in the first quarter. Ohio started the game on a 9-2 run over the first three minutes of the contest. During the first quarter, the Cards went on a 4:15 scoreless drought. After the scoreless drought, the Cardinals went on an 11-1 run that was started by a three by Crump.

The Cards tied the game at 11 after a pair of free throws by Barrs. LU took its first lead of the game at 13-12 after a jumper by Barrs. Ohio regained the lead and took a one point lead, 16-15, after the first quarter. In the quarter, the Cards forced the Bobcats into 11 turnovers.

Over the first three and a half minutes in the second quarter, the Bobcats slowly stretched its lead to six, 26-20, after a three by Gabby Burris. The Cards trimmed the lead down to one, 26-25, after a jumper by
Shedricka Pierson. After Pierson's jumper, LU was limited to two points for the final 3:53 of the second quarter and trailed 32-27 at halftime.

Ohio opened the second half on a 17-4 run over the first five and a half minutes of the third quarter. A layup by Amani Burke put the Bobcats ahead, 49-32. LU answered back with a run of its own as they went on a 9-1 run cutting the lead down to nine, 50-41, after a Barrs layup. Ohio ended the quarter on an 11-2 run and led 61-43 after three quarters of play.

The Cards offense looked to be heating up in the fourth quarter as they shot 47 percent. A layup by Barrs got the LU offense going. Lamar could not get any closer than 20 points, 73-53, for the contest and LU was defeated 87-62.

The Cards return to action on Thursday, Nov. 29 when they travel to College Station, Texas to face Texas A&M. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m.
